5 signs a contractor will get the job done right

Alot of time and money goes into just initiating a big project. Choosing the right contractor can also be a daunting task. Especially if you arent from the building industry.

1.

They are qualified and licenced to do the job. A quick search on the QBCC website (or relevant site for your state) will tell you if your contractor is licenced and trained to do the job.

2.

They can outsource on a big job and have a good referral network to offer you solutions for your overall vision. Just like white collar professions all have thier specialisation, trades have thier own niche contractors who usually know what trades need to precede them before they will begin work for you. A good contractor will let you know what needs to be done before they can commence and finish.

3.

They can get thier hands dirty. Domestic construction is usually a small bussiness affair. Most small business contrators will have to jump into the dirty work in order to get the job done.

4.

Transparency. A price should be aggreed upon at the start of your project... in writing. And any inciedentals are documented. This also involves a degreee of transparency from the customer... trades wont show up if you havent paid thier last invoice!

5.

Punctuality. They turn up when they say they will. (except if they work for a telcomunications company). Or at the least, phone to let you know what is holding them up. (weather or other unfinished trades can hinder your pools progress).
